Grit & PassionYa'll, this work is hard. Don't get me wrong, sometimes it's beautiful. Watching a birther find their power. Seeing a new life emerge into the world. Knowing that I'm making a lasting difference in people's lives. It's all rainbows and butterflies until: Three interviews in a row cancel. I have to cancel a class because no one registers. I'm supporting a family who has just suffered a loss. You get it. This work isn't for everyone, but it is for me. It's a calling that is almost impossible to put into words. It started as a soft whisper, and has since grown into a thunderous and commanding roar that I simply can not and do not wish to ignore.
Being in the birth field can be compared to childbirth in so many ways. That deep seeded urge to have a baby chooses you. Sometimes it takes more than one shot to conceive. There's no rushing into or controlling it, and all you can do is nurture your growing belly and allow it to bloom into the life it will become. Once the dance has begun, birther and baby sync up as one. They sway, twist, rock, sing, breath, and release as one. Once your little one presents his/herself to the world it is a magically, beautiful, messy and complicated thing. There's no one way to do it right. There's only the family adjusting to new life with this new person and the new little one adjusting to life outside of the womb. This new addition will continue to grow and thrive as long as they are receiving your love, nourishment and protection. You have everything your little bundle needs. You are the only one this precious new life needs. You've got this. Allow yourself to feel all of the feelings that come along with such a huge season change that is bringing life to earth. Allow yourself to see the magnitude of what you've done, and what you will continue to do. Marvel at it. Fill your heart with it. You're inner self is cheering. Listen! The universe is glowing with light and love for you today and every day from now on. For, you are the creator and care taker for the most precious of all creations. Growing, nourishing, and trusting this business is a dance. Sometimes I step on it's toes, sometimes it steps on mine, and sometimes we sway and sing in time with the music of life. I will continue the dance until I can dance no longer. I look forward to learning new steps from the very people I serve, and bringing them into my business, and so it will expand and grow. |
